We have recently designed this 8,000 sq/ft residential penthouse at Howick Place, Victoria for the developer Estate4.

We have been asked to consider the refurbishment of the top floor of the former Royal Mail building in Howick Place to create a residential penthouse across 8,000 sq/ft. This lateral residential space is on a scale that is unrivalled in central London and it enjoys extraordinary natural light. To take advantage of this situation, we designed a system of ceiling lights and louvred skylights that responds to the natural daylight conditions through state of the art real-time monitoring technology. The open-plan living space and kitchen is flanked on three sides by sliding window doors which give access to external terraces. A mezzanine level is made possible due to the generous floor-to-ceiling heights at the centre of the space and accommodates a library overlooking the main level and the bedroom quarters.
