POKE, LONDON

The POKE office has concrete floors and ceilings, meaning that all services have to be contained within the shell. Custom cable trays provide a decorative and navigation feature at the same cost as standard fixtures.

ABOUT

The project is a 10,000 sq/ft contemporary workspace for the renowned London based design consultancy Poke.

The brief was to convert a vast open-plan warehouse space into a challenging and memorable working environment for 70 staff and visitors. The gritty East London location was to provide a strong context for the unpretentious and functional design. A continuous fair faced concrete block wall runs through the space forming meeting rooms. This choice of material also reflects the existing building as well as being very cost effective and functional. Another significant element is a specially designed 4 compartment cable tray, which allows for branching off to save significantly on wiring costs. Innovative large glazed pivot panels act as doors to the meeting rooms, a simple seamless resin floor, indirect lighting and 70m long desk all contribute to this simple subtle interior.
