SPLENDID COMMUNICATIONS WITH MICHAEL CORSAR
We have just received the first shots of the furniture in production for the 6000 sq/ft new offices of Splendid at Tabernacle St in Shoreditch.
In keeping with their philosophy of craftsmanship we have made a system of furniture in solid Iroko which is oiled. The furniture design was a collaborative project with our long time friend Michael Corsar and produced by Nick Bourne Projects.

OUR NEW STUDIO AT ROCHELLE SCHOOL
We have moved...
After 7 happy years at our studio on Calvert Avenue, we are delighted to be moving to much larger new premises. Our new studio will be located in the Rochelle School building on Arnold Circus in Shoreditch. Since it was taken over by A-Foundation, the building has been converted into creative studios. We will be the first architectural studio to take a space in the building. The building also benefits from an on-site refectory, the Rochelle Canteen, with acclaimed food provided by Arnold & Henderson. It is exciting to be working in a place shared with artists, designers and artisans whilst continuing our close ties with the local community and environment. Our new address will be as follows:

WAREHOUSE CONVERSION
We have recently completed a four-storey 4,000 sq/ft warehouse conversion.
This project involves the construction of a new rooftop building and major refurbishment of a four-storey apartment for a family in London. We began the project with the idea of better utilizing the roof terrace for the benefit of the apartment. The existing circulation route from the living space to the terrace was via an awkward stair over the swimming pool, and therefore the terrace was rarely used. We have designed a new stair to link the living space with the terrace which completes a coherent passage through the apartment from the ground floor entrance to the third floor terrace. A new building on the roof will contribute the kind of space that the apartment currently lacks and one that is a privilege in central London. A combination of fixed skylights and sliding window doors take advantage of the abundant natural light and carefully stimulate the relationship with the external space.

BARBICAN PENTHOUSE
The careful fusion of new and retained elements was a key consideration in the design of this sensitive penthouse remodelling project which is now under construction.
The Barbican is a grade 2 listed internationally regarded residential complex in the City of London. Cromwell Tower is one of three high-rise towers within the complex and we are re-designing the 2-storey penthouse apartment at its summit. We have addressed the issues with the existing layout to develop improved relationships between the rooms on the lower level of the flat, especially between the living space and kitchen. In replacement of the existing non-original joinery, we have designed bespoke oak-veneered cabinetry to suit the needs of the clients. Other important components of the scheme are: floor-to-ceiling oak-veneered sliding and pivot doors; skirtings made in 2 part glass fibre plaster; Corian wet rooms; and a multi-room audio-video system. We have worked closely with English Heritage to design a contemporary anthology of details that update the old concepts of the apartment in a respectful yet thoroughly modern manner. We believe that our diligent remodelling and restoration work carefully marries old and new within the challenging context of this historically significant building.
