We are designing an expansive 11,000 square foot single-storey home in Los Angeles, organised around a series of courtyard gardens that frame dramatic views of Santa Monica and the Getty Museum. Inspired by the book 'California Gardens' by Eugene O. Murmann, the house integrates architecture and landscape, with each room connected to outdoor spaces that extend living areas into nature.

The material palette balances elegance and robustness. We are using local stone, raked in-situ and precast concrete for the exterior, and cast terrazzo floors, red cedar joinery and timber feature ceilings inside. Terraced areas and the pool are designed to harmonise with the surrounding landscape. Natural light is maximised through skylights, clerestory windows and full-height sliding panels.

A new-build of exceptional scale, the project is being delivered for a long-term collaborator and major art collector. We are working closely with the client throughout, refining every detail to accommodate art, furniture and lifestyle requirements.
The design fuses architectural clarity with relaxed Californian elegance, creating a home where indoor and outdoor spaces coexist seamlessly and support both art display and everyday living.
